Speaking to IQNA on the sidelines of the 34th Tehran International Book Fair last week, Ali Mushatat said these activities include making documentaries and publishing books,

One of these books titled “Jamal al-Iraq (beauty of Iraq)” is about the life and thoughts of Martyr Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the former PMU deputy commander who was assassinated by US in 2020, he stated.

He noted that these works are created by collecting documents and conducting interviews with members of the PMU and other figures in order to shed light on the resistance of the Iraqi nation and the epics made by the PMU in the fight against terrorism and occupation.

He said the PMU took part in the Tehran book fair to inform Iranian visitors about the works published by the PMU Publishing Center.

He also hailed the good reception of the PMU Pavilion at the book fair, especially by Iranian youths.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Mushatat referred to the Quranic activities of the PMU, saying it organizes various programs such as Quran competitions and Quranic circles.

Highlighting the good relations between the PMU and the Astans (custodianships) of the holy shrines in Iraq, he noted that they jointly hold various Quranic circles in the holy shrines.

The PMU is a government-sponsored umbrella organization composed of around 40 factions of volunteer counter-terrorism forces, including mostly Shia Muslim groups like Asa'ib, besides Sunni Muslims, Christians and Kurds.

The 34th edition of the Tehran International Book Fair was held at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla (Congregational Prayers Site) from May 10 to 20.

About 3,000 Iranian and foreign publishers took part in the book fair.
